The Nesting Place /It doesn't have to be perfect to be Beautiful/ By Myquillyn Smith

This book couldn't have come to me for review at a more perfect time. I downloaded it two days before we were due to pack our current apartment into boxes, and finished it before we physically moved everything. It was that good! I know I will be reading it again! Myquillyn drew me in from the first page with her hilarious stories, helpful tips and motivation to try new things that I will probably love.

The next thing is that I get to put it all into practice, having moved immediately after I felt like I was handed a blank canvas and given tips and resources to go with it. The hubby and I laughed hard over her story of spilling fresh paint on the floor of the rental (ok I may have cringed a little too knowing the horror I would feel if it were me). The pictures in the book of her beautiful home encouraged me and inspired me to try things I've never tried before. (I can't wait to look into have a canvas with all the streets we've lived on since being married)

It felt like a big sister slightly further ahead of me, in a similar journey of moving every 12 months, giving me the permission I needed in the area of decorating our home. To try new things, to go ahead and paint those wood items which everyone keeps telling me I shouldn't even consider doing because who dares to paint perfectly good wood.
So I've been experimenting these last 2 weeks taking baby steps, my huge wall art of a London bus is hanging in the hallway of all places this time.....and you know what I LOVE it even more than I did previously!!! My $0.50 frames from goodwill got a coat of wall paint this week (no I didn't sand or even wipe down the frames) and they look AWESOME! I LOVE them!!! I even found $5 cabinet doors in Ikea on Monday which I have huge plans for.

This book is incredible. Be warned, its hard to put down and it might keep you up at night dreaming up ways of improving your home. Who says you can't love a rental.....I'm falling pretty hard over here as I adapt many of Myquillyn's ideas and dream up my own.

Definitely one of the best books I have read in a while! A fast favorite! Be sure to head over to her blog as well if you want a sneek peek of Myquillyn's incredible work on a great budget.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book through BookLook, however all opinions expressed are my own.

One of my favorite days.
A day to dig out those inspirations.
Oh and I totally picked up 2 baskets to start trying to grow herbs in. Exciting!

Amazing how you can often make these work without paying a ton of money too =)
{Tutorials on some of my finds coming soon....oh and make sure you don't miss Friday's Surprise guys!!}

Absolutely!!! Seeing prayers answered on a board like this would be a wonderful reminder of how faithful the Lord is.

Ok so I don't love this room but I like certain things about it. Like the green dresser and those curtains!! =)

This nursery is so sweet. I love the freshness of the colors. Oh and that rug is totally Ikea ($20), Just in case anyone wants to know....

This would have been my dream room in high school. I love those comforter colors!

These pictures make me hope we have a farmhouse someday.

A armhouse with a woodburning stove so we need all that wood.

This is beautiful. No other words.

Happy Winds-Day everyone! =)

Home Inspirations

This week I added a desk organiser & a storage unit to our office/guest room.
As you can probably tell I am a HUGE fan of home decor.
So this is one of my favorite times of the week.
Aside from Mondays, which are truly my favorite.

 This would be my dream!
To someday have a room just for crafting! =)

Loving the lines on this wall. This is awesome.

Not really my style but SO dreamy looking.

Kinda reminds me of A Little Princess, the movie...not sure why.

If I had a fireplace, I'm not sure I could bring myself to not have it in use.
But this is a neat use of the space.

Boy room for an all-boy. Love it.

In love with accents in bold colors and neutral furniture currently.

I love pictures, in case you havn't noticed....so this would be awesome.
Oh and LOVE the couch.

Totally want those drapes.

I'm not sure what to think about yarn letters?
What do you guys think?

Can't wait to hear your thoughts.
Much Love,

Home Inspirations

I love that I still get to share my home inspirations with you guys.
Just now it only takes up one post a week instead of all of them.
Blogging is so much fun!
Check out these things which inspire me!

So need to get some of this chalkboard paint.
The number of ideas for this stuff....

Yes! Porches are my favorite.
Among many others.
Never would have thought to try stripes on the ceiling.

Quite possibly my favorite boy nursery design.

This is beautiful! I might eventually need to get some curtain holders for the living room.
Hmm....

YES!!! Someday my house might need this!

If this were my bathroom, I would want to be a fish.

What a glamorous way for me to always be able to find my keys.

You know that frame which you so want to throw out because you think it looks bad.
Yeah...this one's for that.
Love them!
They make me want to go paint a room in my house or something!
(I'm scheming about that for the Spring - more on that soon!)
Much Love,

Home Inspirations

I started out looking through some picture frame pins.
I was totally going to share those.
But then found myself dreaming of garden things.
Especially since this mild weather seems like it's going to continue.
I totally want to try some of these this year.

 Totally tried this last summer.
The squirrels thought my plants were too tasty so I ended up with stones and no plants.

 This is awesome!

What garden doesn't need a place for the fairies! =)

Until Summer then....indoor camping perhaps?
Much Love,
L
