Mark & Hannah

My computer has been gone for the last few weeks being repaired, I am so thankful it is now back and was here for me to edit my pictures from the wedding in Kentucky we traveled to this past weekend. Its not very often that you get to go to a wedding where you know both the bride and the groom from high school.
I spent a lot of time in High school with this sweet bride and her sisters as we all went to youth group together, they are just the sweetest and so fun to be with. I also went to school with the groom.

So I was so thankful we were able to make it to their wedding. Still can't believe the incredible story the Lord has written here with this couple. Never would I have imagined The Lord would bring this guy I went to high school with into her life! But The Lord has so been at work in both their lives and you can just see the evidence in their love for him, others & each other!! There is no doubt that He brought these two together & that He is going to do amazing things through their lives together. I can't wait to see what He does......

The Lord truly writes some amazing love stories that bring Him glory!!

P.S. More pictures from the last few months coming soon, now that my computer is back! yay!

Growing Up a Big Sister.

I read the most beautiful post this morning, and I know thousands of ladies can relate to sweet Casey & the Lord has greatly blessed her with an ability to share words that speak into so many lives. I was so blessed to meet her at Influence about 18 months ago when I shamelessly asked her if she would be my big sister haha, and am SO excited about seeing her again in about 10 days at Hope Spoken!! I wish I had been a younger sister to a beautiful woman like her!

Its funny hearing her talk about what it was like growing up, how deeply she felt things. I was thrown back into my own flood of memories of what it was like to play when I was young, I was an oldest child. I didn't have a big sister to look up to and get excited about doing everything she was doing. I was the big sister. And a lot of times that was scary. I was terrified about growing up so much of the time. I didn't know how to participate in conversations about shaving legs, I was blessed with blonde hairs that still don't really show if I forget to shave. (Praising God for that one!) But I never had a desire to shave or wear a bra until I heard comments from girls in the locker room. Perhaps I was young for my age and naive. But I'm ok with that now. I certainly wouldn't have wanted to grow up too fast.

I was so scared to tell my mom when a certain guy caught my eye when I was 16. I didn't want to be growing up yet I really felt drawn to his character. I was terrified about life changing from being at home with my parents and sister. Of being vulnerable around a guy.

I played with barbies until I was around 15. I was a dreamer, I loved imagining stories for them. Of playing out their family drama and how it would all work out in the end. And since I never wanted any of them to feel left out, my families often had about 10 children so that none of the dolls would feel left out.

I'm the girl who grew up watching Disney movies. A sucker for romance and happy endings. I love seeing people happy and really love being a part of putting a smile on someones face.

I feel things too deeply sometimes, I cry in books and movies, feeling so attached to the characters as if they were my friends or family. I'm trying to see this feeling deeply thing as a blessing. It has given me the ability to be there for people. To empathize with them and really care about them. But it also means that I can get hurt easily. I'm trying to be thankful for this characteristic in my life and really use it in a way that brings Him glory. While also relying on Him for strength and my worth & value.

I'm so thankful looking back on all these things that the Lord has walked me through so many of them. How He is in the process of changing me and helping me see these things can be positive. They don't have to be negative. I was just looking back on some of the journey He walked me through in my life and was floored with thankfulness and super excited to see where He may take me in the future.

And all of that from a few thoughts shared by an incredible woman I look up to. Isn't it amazing how the Lord uses random things to draw us to Him.

A Redeemed Bigger Picture.

Yesterday evening my sister and I had the opportunity to hang out and spend some time together painting at this paint class. It was really a ton of fun.
It may not have been a great decision to go the evening we returned from vacation, hence the tired look haha! But I'm still super glad we went.

I wasn't very happy with the way my picture was turning out towards the end, it looked really messy and didn't seem to be looking the way I had hoped it would. But I kept on going and adding the layers of paint in hope that it would turn out in the end.

Today while driving home from church I suddenly realised after listening to a sermon by our pastor how that painting related to part of what he was saying. How up close our lives can be a bit of a mess. So many things going on which we seem to mess up and not get right. We can keep going with this mess for a while and how God in His sovereignty can be using our mess for the good of His bigger picture. The messiness of the painting was like that, up close it was seeming like a total waste of a canvas to me, but how the mess combined began to build up a beautiful bigger picture.
What humility there was in that today, to realise that our mess can be used by God. Not to say that we should just keep messing up all the time and know that it doesn't matter (because I don't believe that would be biblical), but to realise that it is God who makes things beautiful in the bigger picture. Not us in all our mess.
It is His bigger picture.

Just thought I would share this thought today.

Much Love!

So when L asked me to write a fashion post I was very excited! I don’t have my own blog but am contemplating starting my own and thought this would be a great idea to start writing. I’m flattered that L thinks I am very fashionable I wear decent outfits. Ok, so my first official post is about

Headbands.

I love headbands. I wear them often and in lots of ways. When I go shopping and look in the accessories section they are often the only thing I look at. I’m not much of a jewellery girl (maybe own four sets of earrings and wear two of them. I know I’m sure some of you think that is a crime!) Not only are they a great way to hide a bad hair day, but they often look super cute with any outfit.

Well I’m going to share a few ways I like to wear my headbands. I’m only using one headband in the pictures because I sadly left most of my headbands at home with my hubby where I am not currently. I know it’s really sad, I miss him. he is the best. the most awesomest person I have ever met (yes I know that isn’t a word, but he is!) *suddenly gets brought out of day dream* Ok back to where I was. headbands. Enjoy!

Ok no headband. just checking the lighting was good. If you have complaints then speak to an electrician.

The last one I didn't use a headband – simply braid your hair and clip with a bobby pin.

Well there are many more ways of wearing headbands and slight variations (like the hippy way – wear it more on your forehead or more on the top of your head etc.)

I feel like headbands used to be more popular in previous years which makes me sad but doesn't mean we can’t go out and rock it. I’m not much into copying celebrity fashion, but even some awesome women have kept the headband alive.

Not sure if this is her wedding but this is a HOT headband.

Love her. Love the headband.

Ok and before I leave you, one final pic which makes me excited as it is finally winter and I get to wear my warm headband. (I guess it still counts as a headband) It might make me look goofy but I don’t care. I like to think that I can rock it (:

'Two Hearts In Love' Thursdays. [Sisters]

It's here!!!!!!
The brand new series is all about wedding planning.
I have so many inspiring pictures and projects related to weddings,
I couldn't resist sharing them with you all.

For my first share on weddings,
I would love to share this picture.
Because although I have planned my own wedding, my sister is now the sweet one planning hers.
This photo is just precious.
What a cute picture of two sisters at one of their weddings.

One of the sweetest pictures I have ever seen.

The subject of sisters in weddings automatically makes me think of the Maid of Honor.
For my own wedding, I did have my sister as my Maid of Honor.
But that doesn't have to be the case.
I felt my sister was dear to me & had known me the longest.
I wanted her to be recognized on my wedding day.
There are so many topics within wedding planning around Maid of Honors.

{Image property of E.Girdlestone}

What I did, in order for my sister to stand out, was to have her in the same dress as all the other bridesmaids but her dress was in a different color.
Or rather different shade of pink.

Your Maid of Honor should be a girl dear to you, who understands you.
My Maid of Honor & our Best man were such a huge blessing to me leading up to our wedding.
My groom was still finishing up school, so he didn't get into town until 24hrs before we got married.
Since I didn't live in the place we were getting married either,
I flew in about 10 days before we got married myself.
(Perhaps more on our story at a later point)
So you can imagine what a relief it was to have two awesome people helping me out.

The choice can be difficult when choosing a Maid of Honor though.
It can be a delicate issue at times in order to avoid hurting feelings or making your friends feel uncomfortable.
Choosing the ladies to stand up there with me was possibly one of the hardest decisions I had to make during the whole process.

How did you guys choose? Or how do you plan/think you should choose?

Much Love,
L
